Visiting the Loire
The Loire is best driven from west to east, base by base — Nantes for Muscadet, Angers and Saumur for Chenin and Cabernet Franc, Tours for Vouvray and Chinon, Sancerre for the east. Many of the historic estates have cellars cut directly into the tuffeau cliffs along the river.
