Top 10 Wineries in Marlborough
Marlborough at the top of New Zealand's South Island is the world's most famous Sauvignon Blanc region. The Wairau Valley produces the classic herbaceous-tropical style; the cooler Awatere Valley adds saline tension. Beyond Sauvignon, Marlborough also turns out exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and traditional-method sparkling.

Visiting Marlborough
Blenheim is the natural base, a 25-minute flight from Wellington. The Wairau Valley concentrates the historic estates within easy biking distance; the Awatere Valley is further south and best driven. Many estates have restaurants on site and the region is set up for casual, appointment-free visits.
